How do I know if it is successful?
As with any marketing, measuring the effectiveness of your campaigns is an absolute must! Luckily, measuring how effective your emails are could not be easier! Within Klaviyo (our number one preferred ecommerce email marketing software), you can easily see your open rates and click-through rates but most importantly the revenue your emails generate. Klaviyo tracks how many sales are generated as a direct result of the emails that you send. All the other metrics can be used to increase the effectiveness of your emails and ultimately generate more sales!
What ROI can I expect?
This is always a tricky one to answer, as it depends on your niche and a lot of other factors. What we can say for definite is that in a study conducted by the Direct Marketing Association, a return of around £30 for every £1 spent on email was achieved. How often should I send an email to my list?
The best answer we can give to this question is this… if you are not uncomfortable with how many emails you are sending, you are probably not sending enough! Should I buy a list?
It can be very tempting because you know that a bigger database combined with effective email marketing simply means more revenue and profit. The problems come from the fact that not all lists are equal. A database or list that you have generated yourself from selling products is the most valuable list you can own. Next is a list that you have generated, by providing free help and advice or a competition to win something (or something closely related to what) you sell. Both these lists will have your ideal customers on them. A bought list is a complete unknown, you have no guarantee that your ideal customers will be on the list, responsive to messages or willing to buy. If you are sure you wish to purchase a list, do so with caution. See if you can buy a segment of the list and run a promotion to see what the results are before investing in the remaining entries. What about GDPR?
